Desmond Keller is a young Brooklyn musician and composer. His improvisational jazz group called, The Collective, can be heard at community gardens in Greenpoint and Williamsburg. His musical compositions have been featured in films by his compeers. As a jazz saxophonist, Desmond has studied under Dr. Jim Saltzman, Alison Shearer, Waldron Ricks, and Eli Kronenberg. He is currently attending Manhattan School of Music (pre-college) and Frank Sinatra School of Performing Arts. Desmond is a member of the NYSSMA All-State Big Band, as one of two tenor saxophonists selected from across New York State. As a guitarist and drummer, Desmond's recent group, Bugeater, performed at Main Drag Music, but the group disbanded shortly thereafter, when the singer (and close friend) moved away. This propelled Desmond into a new solo rock project, which infuses his jazz education with the sound of 90s shoegaze. The resulting music is dense with thick jazz chords, flat brooding vocals, and alternating time signatures. We anticipate the release of these recordings next year.
